MSc M. Husain
Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM), Department of Microelectronics
Expertise: Wide bandgap semiconductors, UV Photodetector, Nano thin films, MOCVD, Graphene, Sensors
Themes: Autonomous sensor systemsBiography
Mudassir Husain completed his B.Sc. from SDSUV University, India, in 2017, followed by an M.Sc. ( Physics) from GKV University, India, in 2019. During his M.Sc. research, he investigated the structural and optical behavior of Pb-doped ZnSc thin films, which sparked his interest in experimental methods and the broader technological landscape of semiconductor physics and material science. Motivated by a desire to deepen this understanding, he continued his academic journey with an M.Tech. ( Solid-State Materials) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, completed in 2022. His M.Tech. thesis centered on the fabrication and characterization of deep ultraviolet photodetectors developed on MOCVD-grown β-Ga2O3 thin films.
In the same year, he joined the photonics group at KAUST University in Saudi Arabia as a research intern from June to December. During this period, he worked on photonic crystal design and numerical simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics, resulting in a publication as a co-author.
In March 2023, he joined the Electronic Components, Technology, and Materials (ECTM) group as a research scholar. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. Sten Vollebregt at TU Delft, where his research focuses on advanced graphene-based gas sensors with an emphasis on applications in modern agriculture.
