Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM), Department of Microelectronics Themes: Autonomous sensor systems
Biography
Leandro Nicolás Sacco did graduate in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentine in 2011. For his graduate project, he studied the synthesis of Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on Carbon fibres to develop CNTs-fiber/epoxy composites. He obtained his PhD in Physics at Ecole Polytechnique, France in 2015. His work was devoted to the development of electronic applications based on CNTs grown inside porous anodic alumina templates.
During his first postdoctoral experience at Ecole Polytechnique, Leandro Sacco worked on a project funded by the Chair André Citroën (PSA Group), to develop transistors devices based on single-walled CNTs for the detection of nitrogen dioxide present in the atmosphere at extremely low concentrations (sub-ppm range). In a second postdoctoral at Ecole Polytechnique funded by EDF, his studies were focused on the TEM analysis of In situ and operando conditions of metal nanoparticles decoration of CNTs.
In 2018 he joined TU Delft, as a postdoctoral researcher in the Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM) group. His current work deals with the development of sensing applications. The central core of his research project is focused on designing and fabricating devices based on CNTs, multi-layered graphene, and other transition metal dichalcogenides. Besides, under the frame of a collaboration with ASML, Leandro Sacco worked to develop large-scale graphene-based membranes to contribute to the next generation of MEMS applications.
Over the course of his research career, Leandro Sacco has developed many research interests, like the synthesis of carbon-based nanomaterials, template fabrication by electrochemistry approaches, various characterization techniques of nanomaterials, MEMS/NEMS fabrication, and the development of sensing applications.
