Biography

Dr. İlke Ercan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microelectronics and the chair of the Electrical Engineering Education section at TU Delft. She earned her doctorate degree (2014) from Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst, MA). She has an M.S.E.C.E. (2008) with concentration in Electrophysics from the same department, a B.S. in Physics (2006) and an undergraduate minor degree in Philosophy and History of Science from Middle East Technical University (Ankara, TR). Upon completing her PhD, Dr. Ercan worked as a Visiting Faculty at Smith College Picker Engineering Program (Northampton, MA) in Spring and Fall 2014. She pursued her postdoctoral research at TU Darmstadt (Darmstadt, DE) in the Institute for Semiconductor Technology and Nanoelectronics in collaboration with the Institute for Philosophy in Spring and Summer 2015. Between Fall 2015 to Fall 2019, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at Boğaziçi University (Istanbul, TR), where she founded and directed the Quantum and Nano Computing Systems Research Group. During this time, Dr. Ercan has also been affiliated with Sabancı University (Istanbul, TR) in Fall 2017 as an academic advisor to the Purple Certificate (Mor Sertifika) STEM-Gender education program, and in Spring 2018 as a part-time instructor for the Foundations Development Program. In Summer 2018, Dr. Ercan worked as a Visiting Scholar in the Electronic Materials Research Group (EMAT) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (Cambridge, MA). Prior to joining TU Delft, from Summer 2019 to Spring 2021, Dr. Ercan worked as an Associate Professor at the University College Roosevelt (Middelburg, NL), where she contributed to the launching of the Engineering Department by developing the curriculum, coordinating the Electronics track and teaching courses in the Engineering and Science Department.
