MSc Tawab Karim

PhD student
Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM), Department of Microelectronics

Themes: Health and Wellbeing

Biography

Tawab completed his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the 3mE faculty from TU Delft (2019), additionally completing extracurricular subjects in Electrical Engineering from the EWI faculty . In his final year he completed his Bachelor’s thesis on designing and testing of a modular 3D printable multicolour SMLM microscope, creating a platform for scientist to use. Tawab then proceeded to obtain his master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the 3mE faculty of TU Delft (2022), with a focus on bioelectronics and medical devices. His master thesis topic focused on the design and monolithic fabrication of flexible graphene-based implant with a novel CMOS technology integration. In February 2022, Tawab started as junior process engineer at a deep-tech startup in Delft, developing and fabricating novel OoC devices within the EKL cleanroom facilities.

In February 2025, Tawab joined TU Delft as a PhD candidate in the Electronics Components Technology and Materials (ECTM) group in the department of Microelectronics. His research will focus on the development of biosensors for in-vitro neuronal applications, enabling the further study of dementia-related disorders. He will focus on the integration of biocompatible, non-invasive and label-free biosensors.
