MSc Vasiliki Zacharia
Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM), Department of Microelectronics Themes: Health and Wellbeing
Biography
Vasiliki completed her Integrated Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2023 at the University of Western Macedonia in Kozani, Greece, specializing in bioelectronics and biomedical engineering. For her diploma thesis, she conducted a research project at the National Centre of Scientific Research "Demokritos," within the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Her research focused on the design, fabrication, and characterization of self-powered triboelectric tactile sensors in the form of electrical skin, incorporating deep learning strategies for material and texture recognition, with the goal of supporting people with visual impairment or neurological loss of touch. After her graduation, Vasiliki continued her research at NCSR "Demokritos" as a research assistant, enhancing tactile sensors with potential applications in Braille recognition and contributing to preparing research findings for publication.
Additionally, she served as the volunteer head organizer at Electrical Engineering Students' European Association (EESTEC) LC Athens, leading a committee of 21 people. Together, they organized training sessions and workshops for university students across Greece, focusing on fostering soft skills such as emotional intelligence, discipline, and conflict management in workplaces.
In May 2024, Vasiliki joined TU Delft as a PhD candidate in the Electronics Components Technology and Materials (ECTM) group within the Department of Microelectronics. Her PhD project centres on developing innovative Organ-on-Chip (OoC) devices for integration within a smart multi-well plate (SMWP), aiming to foster the adoption of OoC technology in existing biological and pharmaceutical workflows.
