Innovating Electrical Engineering Education: Bridging Gaps, Enhancing Collaboration, and Adapting to the Future
Bahareh Abdi, Seyedmahdi Izadkhast, Ilke Ercan“Innovating Electrical Engineering Education: Bridging Gaps, Enhancing Collaboration, and Adapting to the Future”
In this colloquium, EEE team members İlke, Mahdi, and Bahareh will present key initiatives they are leading to enhance the educational experience in our Electrical Engineering BSc program. They will discuss the “Bridging the Gaps in Electrical Engineering Education” project, which introduces hands-on student projects through a makerspace to supplement the traditional curriculum, as part of İlke’s Education Fellowship. They will also present preliminary findings from their research using BuddyCheck to analyze group dynamics and support underrepresented students in Integrated Project courses. Additionally, they will highlight the creation of a digital twin for Integrated Project 3 through Bahareh’s Open Education Stimulation Fund, which enhances learning flexibility. Finally, they will review the updated mentorship program for first-year students, designed to strengthen academic skills and support student success.
