High performance devices based on advanced materials (2DMat)

Themes: XG - Next Generation Sensing and Communication

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted significant attention due to their thickness-dependent bandgap, large surface-to-volume ratio, and outstanding physics properties. Different from gapless graphene, 2D metal disulfide material possesses a direct bandgap of 1.1-2.1 eV and is therefore promising for low-power electronics and optoelectronics. In this project, we will focus on development of high performance nanoelectronic and photoelectronic devices based on 2D metal sulfides, which include the device design, fabrication, testing and applications. We will explore the potential applications of the device in non-contact sensing and healthcare monitoring, and demostrate the possibility of applicants and lighting controlling in a smart home system for our future life.
