Topics: Fundamentals of security engineering and their application in communication system design

The course provides an overview of the most important concepts, methods and best practices in computer and network security. Its goal is to equip students with the necessary background to understand the role and importance of security in the information society as well as to critically reflect upon and improve the security of computer and communication systems. Starting from a review of common vulnerabilities and attack scenarios, the course will discuss the fundamentals of security engineering and their application in system design, review tools and methods to assess and test communication infrastructure from a security perspective.
